A Mello State of Mind
An Island Steeped in History
While our resort is brand new, our footprint on Holmes Beach has been here for decades. Over the years, our location has provided refuge to beach goers, families, couples and those solitary souls in search of a quiet retreat on the sandy shore of the Gulf of Mexico.

Establishing a Beach Resort
Our story begins in 1975, when the Aquarius Beach Resort opened. Self-described as a “Key West style Caribbean paradise” located directly on the beach. Nine units featured bathtubs and cable TV with lush tropical landscape and a heated pool, all surrounded by a white picket fence.
Later the property was lovingly renovated, grew to 11 units and was renamed Anna Maria Island Beach Resort. With the passage of time, warm sun and salt air took its toll over the years, and the property fell into disrepair.
Rescued & Reimagined
In 2018, the property was purchased by a small group of individuals who shared a vision to create a truly unique vacation experience on Holmes Beach. This began by razing the existing structure and completely redesigning the building and its surrounding spaces.
More than bricks and mortar, a lifestyle was created to reflect the personality of our friendly, hip and youthful (including the “young at heart”) patrons who yearn to vacation at their own pace.

As you cross the bridge to our island and exhale, Mello is the freedom from all things stressful. It’s a flow that connects one relaxing moment to the next.
Eleven mod escapes from which to choose. Colorful kitchenettes include all the necessary elements. Modular rooms and living spaces pop with hues of sea, sand and sunsets. Outdoor areas adapt to meet your evolving needs as basecamp, refuge or convivial gathering spot.
The sugar white sands of the beach are steps away and Mello offers a portal to bliss. Celebrating memories yet to be made.
